What’s involved in EGR solutions & how can it improve my vehicles running?
The EU and other governmental bodies have forced vehicle manufactures to meet stringent emissions targets meaning they have had to develop new methods of improving emissions. The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system is one of these developments. This unfortunately is a compromise, whilst the EGR valve reduces emissions, it reduces the reliability and efficiency of the engine.

EGR Valve Information
The Reason EGR Valves are fitted.
Manufacturers fit EGR valves in order to reduce NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) emissions. However, the negative effects outweigh the so called “Benefits”.
Negatives
• Reduces Efficiency (More fuel burnt more emissions to recycle)
• Increases Particulate Matter (Soot)
• Reduction in Performance that gets worse over time
• Carbon Build up throughout the Engine intake system, Engine Internals and Turbo
EGR failure often occurs when the recirculated exhaust gasses clog up the valve with soot causing it to stick in the open position, when this happens the engine is starved of oxygen, constantly drawing in exhaust gas becoming sluggish and reducing efficiency, worst case the machine can become almost undriveable. Electronic failure is also common where the internal motor or position sensor fails often giving a fault and a light on the dashboard.
Bypassing/Deleting the EGR Valve will result in the following;

When it comes to EGR valves we provide two solutions
The ECU is Remapped (Reprogrammed) and the EGR functions are removed from the ECU software so the valve is electronically programmed to remain closed at all times. It is vital that it’s done correctly to prevent any further issues. The machine can also have further MAP adjustments at the same time to improve performance and fuel efficiency.
Mechanically blanking the EGR Valve completely preventing any exhaust gasses from passing through the valve and entering the engine intake system. Blanking of the EGR is usually only required when the valve cannot fully close due to carbon build up or damage. This option also requires some MAP adjustments to ensure correct fault free operation of the machine, and some extra hardware depending on the system.
