Tractor Remapping John Deere DPF Deletes

John Deere engines appear in a lot or other machinery besides the brands own equipment, meaning I see plenty of them. DPF faults are no stranger to the brand with the Americans now talking of removing the requirement of emissions systems from the USA bound tractors and other farm machinery, a welcome announcement for any farmer that has been plagued by emissions faults and with the future of equipment promising to be cheaper and more reliable, its smiles all round. Unfortunately, its unlikely the UK will go the same way at the moment so were stuck with it for a while.

Fortunately, Agri Remaps can map out the DPF software, removing the need to regen, saving fuel and improving reliability. Most John Deeres seem to have a link between the EGR and DPF during regen, so it makes sense to remove both systems at the same time. The same can be said for an EGR delete, if your model also has a DPF I would recommend removing the two together.

Additionally, DPFs have a limited life without issue and in the right conditions they can go beyond 10000 hours, however there are a multitude of variations that can affect them. The first thing I would say is if you have a DPF fault and cleaning or replacement is recommended, ensure you have the fault fixed before going down this road or you could find yourself repeating the same process with the same costs within a short time. If you have had a coolant or oil leak, or your engine uses coolant or oil this will contaminate the DPF essentially making it sticky meaning soot builds up quicker and is more reluctant to burn off during a regen. Ensure you are using the right oil for the engine, engines fitted with DPF’s often have specific oils to help reduce soot and ash build up. Other faults include faulty injectors and mass airflow sensors, both of these can result in rapid soot build up, in this case repairing the fault and carrying out a service regen normally fixes the fault. If all else fails Agri Remaps can carry out a DPF delete, for the most part I only offer the software side of things but for older models with the sectional DPF I can also provide the mechanical work too. If you have the newer 1 piece type DPF I can advise on the work required but unfortunately, I do not carry welding equipment needed to complete the job.

Once the software has been modified and the DPF removed the tractor will function exactly as before, no lights on the dash and without the need for any regens. Average fuel use will be reduced and no further DPF faults will occur.
